#6 Angelo Matthews ODI strike rate- 97.12
His numbers are up there with the best in the business in India in the ODI format. Angelo Matthews might not be as popular as compared to other illustrious names on this list but he certainly was a force in India. He had a standout year in 2014 when he kept scoring runs for fun. Matthews has scored 608 runs in 11 ODIs at an outstanding average of 121.60. He has scored all these runs at a strike rate of 97.12. Matthews strikingly is the only overseas player on the list.
#5 Virat Kohli ODI strike rate – 98.16
He is the world’s best ODI batsman since his debut. Virat Kohli will go down as among the greatest ODI players of all time. His numbers in the format are simply sensational. It was in Kolkata in 2009 when he scored his first ODI century. Kohli’s conversion rate on Indian soil is magical. He has scored 25 fifties and 21 hundreds in India. Kohli has scored 5,358 runs in 107 ODIs at an average of 58.87 at home. Kohli strikes at 98.16 in ODIs in India.
#4 Shreyas Iyer ODI strike rate – 98.62
He is already among the better batters in world cricket in Indian conditions. Shreyas Iyer made a promising debut in 2017 in the series against Sri Lanka in 2017. He cemented his spot in the ODI team post the 2019 World Cup. Iyer has made the number 4 spot pretty much his own in this format. He has scored 718 runs in 17 games at an average of 51.28 comprising 1 century and 6 half-centuries. Iyer’s strike rate is a brilliant 98.62 in India.
#3 Rohit Sharma ODI strike rate – 99.82
His numbers in India across formats are magnificent. Rohit Sharma is the only ODI player to score 3 double-centuries. All his double hundreds have come in India. Sharma’s 264 came in his favourite ground Eden Gardens, Kolkata. He has scored 4031 runs in 77 ODIs at an average of 59.17 which is even better than Kohli at home. Sharma has 12 ODIs at home and 18 fifties. He strikes at 99.82 in ODIs in India.
#2 Hardik Pandya ODI strike rate – 111.36
He is the only Indian batter on this list who usually bats lower down the order. Hardik Pandya prior to his injury was a spin destroyer. He was known to smash wrist spinners deep into the stands. He is now more of a basher against pace. But his numbers across formats often surprise the sharpest of critics. Pandya’s strike rate of 111.36 is second on this list. He has scored 686 runs in 26 ODIs at an average of 36.10.
#1 Shubman Gill ODI strike rate – 120.03
The world has been at Shubman Gill’s feet in the last couple of months. He has scored centuries across formats in a space of a few weeks. Gill already holds the record for the best ODI average among batters with 1,000+ runs. Not many might be aware of the fact that Gill’s runs have come at a rapid pace too. He has scored 647 runs already in just 9 ODIs at an average of 80.87. Gill’s strike rate of 120.03 is almost 10 points clear of the next best on the list.
