Leaving aside the big names of world cricket, IPL 14 has seen some new faces emerging out of nowhere to rescue their side out of a crucial situation. Let’s have a look at the dark horses of VIVO IPL 14 so far.
IPL 2021: Surprises of VIVO IPL 14 so far
Harshal Patel
Harshal Patel has proved to be a knight in shining armour in RCB’s bowling attack this season. The 30-year-old Haryana’s skipper has been phenomenal for RCB in their first two games against Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has carried RCB’s mediocre bowling on his shoulders. The pacer bagged a fifer in RCB’s first win against MI and dented SRH’s run-chase with an impressive spell of 2 for 25. He is a top contender in the purple cap’s list with 7 wickets to his name so far in the season.
Nitish Rana
Nitish Rana has been a driving figure for KKR in recent years. However, the 27-year-old has failed with being consistent. Nevertheless, the southpaw has made a dream start in IPL 14. He has scored back-to-back half-centuries and is currently topping the orange cap’s list with 137 runs in two games. Rana has been put up against the best bowlers of IPL in his first two games including the likes of Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah. However, Rana has emerged victorious against these great bowlers as he will be looking to continue his brilliant form.
Chetan Sakariya
Chetan Sakariya had a dream start to his Indian Premier League career. His story from rags to riches is something to take motivation from. He dominated the Punjab Kings’ batsmen during Rajasthan Royal’s first IPL game of the season. Sakariya only allowed 31 runs in a high-scoring match which saw 221 runs on the board. The 22-year-old also took 3 crucial wickets in his maiden IPL match as the future looks very bright for the youngster.
