Team India are currently trailing 2-1 in their on-going five-match T20I series against England. This is not a good sign for the Indians as the games are being played in their own backyard. India is set to host the ICC T20I World Cup later this year and the ‘Men in Blue‘ will have to come up with a quick solution to avoid an upset in the grand stage. The hosts can still turn the series in their favour with two games yet to be played. However, the current Indian team looks far from a World Cup-winning side as opined by England legend Michael Vaughan.
IND vs ENG: Michael Vaughan Speaks About The Indian Team
Michael Vaughan believes that the current Indian T20 side is not that good the same as England are not that great of a Test team. He also added that the addition of key-players like Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja might change the dynamics of the team, but as for now, the Virat Kohli-led side looks mediocre.
Michael Vaughan, in a recent interview with Cricbuzz, gave his two cents about Team India. “You’re up against the best team in the world and it very much reminded me of England in the Test series. Chopped and changed everything, and they are not that great a Test match team. This Indian T20 team is not that good,” Michael Vaughan told Cricbuzz.
“It’s as good as it should be so when you get things that work, keep it. Keep it till the next game. I do think Bumrah, Ravi Jadeja… put those two into this team and they just make it so good. You get an extra bowling option and a left-hand batting power with Jadeja and a world-class performer in Jasprit Bumrah,” he added.
Michael Vaughan then questioned India’s decision to demote Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli in the third T20I despite their match-winning half-centuries in the second game. Rohit Sharma opened the batting with KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan came to bat one-down.
“India, I didn’t quite understand with the bat in hand how they changed two players who had done so well in the last game. Ishan Kishan, who had opened the batting goes to three and Virat Kohli who played brilliantly at three goes to four. Surely, you keep the substance of what had worked in the previous game, you manoeuvre a KL Rahul in the middle of the order,” said Michael Vaughan..
