“The fault was mine”- Fakhar Zaman Reacts To Quinton de Kock’s Dummy

Pakistani batsman Fakhar Zaman blamed himself for his uncanny run-out during their second ODI against South Africa. Keeper Quinton de Kock got the better of Zaman by making him believe that the throw was going to the other end while the Pakistani opener was completing his run. De Kock’s dummy slowed Zaman’s speed and Aiden Markram’s direct hit caught the Pakistani off-guard.

Fakhar Zaman has no complaints about the run-out

Fakhar Zaman was batting on 193 runs when he was cheekily sent back to crease by De Kock. Zaman mustered a heroic inning which included 18 fours and 10 sixes. He faced a total of 155 balls and got out in the last over. Everyone vouched for his second double century as he was the sole warrior for Pakistan in the second ODI.

Quinton de Kock’s dummy divided the cricketing into two. While some lauded the keeper’s presence of mind, the others, criticised him for spoiling the spirits of the gentlemen’s game. Zaman, however, had no complaints about De Kock’s trickery.

“The fault was mine as I was too busy looking out for Haris Rauf at the other end as I felt he’d started a little late from his crease, so I thought he was in trouble. The rest is up to the match referee, but I don’t think it’s Quinton’s fault,” Zaman was quoted as saying in ESPNcricinfo.

“I don’t regret not getting double, I regret losing the match. If we had won this it would’ve been amazing so my regret is about that. The situation was such that I was only focusing on getting the win, not the double,” Zaman added.

Temba Bavuma lauds Quinton de Kock

Meanwhile, South African captain Temba Bavuma hailed De Kock for his smart work on the pitch. “It was quite clever from Quinny. Maybe some people might criticise it for maybe not being in the spirit of the game. But it was an important wicket for us. Zaman was getting close to our target. Yeah, it was clever from Quinny,” Bavuma mentioned.
