Team India Is Preparing A Strategy To Include Mohammed Siraj Into The WTC Final XI

The highly anticipated match between India and New Zealand is set to begin on June 18. Indian players quarantining in Southampton have begun their training sessions ahead of the WTC final. Before the soft quarantine period ends, players will be able to participate in practise sessions in groups of three to four. There may be some selection headaches for the producers in the coming days as they gear up for the big day. The Case For Mohammed Siraj In The WTC Final XI.

The Case For Mohammed Siraj In The WTC Final XI

It will be an audition for the pacers when the full squad gets up for practise, and Mohammed Siraj will be the centre of attention. It’s fair to say that management wants Siraj in the team, but with the availability of experienced pacers, it’ll be a difficult decision. For the first time since the West Indies trip in 2019, all of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah are eligible for selection.

It has been reported that management is prepared to include Siraj in the XI anyway, but that settling him in would be tough for the squad. In such situation, Ishant may be urged to rest due to an ankle injury he sustained earlier this year that may have harmed his health. At this point, the selection of a pacer who can bowl lengthy stretches without losing intensity is critical.

Ishant’s age, which will turn 33 during the trip, was also a factor in his decision. Also, if it is believed that Siraj would become the ultimate choice ahead of Ishant if he reached the appropriate places during the training session. Now it would be interesting to watch the team India will field to keep their foot on the pedal in the main event.

Only a few days ago, an audio leakage from the virtual press conference of Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri suggested that Siraj might be included in the XI of the WTC final team.
