Recently, Suresh Raina recalled some of his most memorable wins alongside none other than God himself, Sachin Tendulkar. Suresh Raina and Sachin Tendulkar were teammates for a span of over 7 years while playing for the Indian national team. Raina went down the memory lane to talk about his most cherished games with Tendulkar.
“I had many memorable moments with paaji once I started playing for India,” Raina told ESPNCricinfo. ” The biggest one obviously is winning the 2011 World Cup, but apart from that, winning the CB series in Australia [in 2008], the ODI and Test series in New Zealand [in 2008-09], and becoming the No. 1 Test team. I was at the other end when paaji scored his 100th international hundred.”

Interestingly, Raina was on the non-striker’s end when the “Master Blaster” scored his 100th international century. The 34-year-old stated that Tendulkar was under immense pressure before he reached the incredible feat against Bangladesh in 2012. Tendulkar and Raina cemented a solid partnership of 86-run in the same match.
Raina, while recalling the incident, said. “After he took a single off Shakib [Al Hasan] to reach the milestone, I congratulated him saying, ‘Well done, paaji, it was due for so many months.’ He said, ‘My hair has turned grey waiting for this moment.’ That’s when I realized how much mental weight he was carrying all that while,” Raina said. It was surely a proud moment for all the Indian fans when Sachin Tendulkar became the only cricketer to achieve the milestone.
