Sourav Ganguly Expressed Concern About The Conditions Of BCCI

Not Hosting IPL Will Cause Loss Of Rs 4000 Crore:

BCCI chairman Sourav Ganguly said that if the IPL would not be held in 2020, it will be a great concern for the BCCI’s financial conditions. The former captain of team India said that if the 13th edition of the IPL doesn’t take place due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the BCCI will have to lose about 4000 Crores.

IPL 2020 was expected to start this year on 29 March but postponed until April, when the Indian government prohibited foreign visas. The situation was made more stringent for IPL when India has come into lockdown. BCCI postponed the IPL for an indefinite period this year.

“We’ll have to look at our situation financially, see how much money we have, and ask for it. The cancellation of the Indian Premier League ( IPL) will lose Rs 4000 crore, “Ganguly declared in his mid-day address.

The former opener in India also indicated that if the IPL doesn’t happen this year, the board will have to pay off.

If The IPL Takes Place, We Won’t Have To Go In For Pay Cuts- Sourav Ganguly:

“We won’t need to go through salary reductions if the IPL takes place. We’re going to handle things, “Ganguly added.

There were also suggestions to host the IPL behind closed doors without any spectators. The attraction will be less responding to the same, Ganguly said.

“Yeah, the attraction will be the less. I note that the Asian Test Championship game against Pakistan in 1999 had played when the viewers were not allowed on the last day following crowd disturbance at Eden Gardens, and there was evidence of lack of enthusiasm.

“If you conduct matches with a limited number of audiences, there are not only strict laws of social distancing, the officials should also be cautious as to how audiences go home from the galleries. The police must be rigorous. We are living in serious conditions. It is a difficult call.” added Ganguly.
