The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined the Sri Lankan side since they were found to be guilty of managing a slow over-rate in the 2nd One-Day International versus India in Colombo on Tuesday. Sri Lanka has been at a big disadvantage too, which has gone beyond games to financial losses. In the 2nd ODI versus India, the Lankans have pointed out for the slow over-rate execution, as a result, they would pay 20 (percent) of the overall of their game fine.
After the Lankans went one over behind, even with all the time considerations were properly considered, Match Referee Ranjan Madugalle issued the punishment.

“In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offenses, players are fined 20 percent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time,” ICC said in a statement.
“In addition, as per Article 16.12.2 of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League Playing Conditions, a side is penalized one point for each over short. Consequently, Sri Lanka will lose one point from their points tally during the Super League,” said the governing body.
The Lankans were not only penalized, but they also lost 1-Point in the ICC-ODI Super League points total, due to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, Article 16.12.2. Dasun Shanaka, the Lankan captain, has found guilt in the act and received the punishment, therefore there will be no official inquiry.
The third One-Day International (ODI) involving India and Sri Lanka will be held at Colombo on July 23. India has so far taken a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The T20I series will be held on 25th July and finish on 29’ July after the ODI series.
Before the T20 World Cup, this will also be Team India’s last T20I performance, which will be held in the UAE and Oman this year.
