Shoaib Malik: Will Take Retirement Call Closer To T20 World Cup

On Friday senior all-rounder Shoaib Malik from Pakistan has opened upon his retirement plan.

“The World Cup is a long way and for now, I am attentive towards Pakistan Super League and upcoming matches of Pakistan. I’ll see what to do when I get closer to World Cup,” he said.

The 38 years old Malik has already retired from Tests after playing 35 matches and 287 one day Internationals but in T20 format he is still active. He has played 113 T20 games for Pakistan all around the world along with various leagues.

Since retiring from ODIs after the last World Cup, Malik, a former Pakistan captain, had said he’d also call it quits in T20 Internationals.

” I am thinking to see my health and place on the national side nearer to the World Cup before my final retirement,” he told reporters.

Shoaib Malik Is Not Taking Any Criticism Close To Heart

The all-rounder Shoaib Malik said that he never takes criticism seriously as it is just like having breakfast in Pakistan cricket.

He also said that ” One gets familiar with this type of criticism. I am not taking it seriously. I don’t have any insecurity and I have got a lot of things in my life. Now, playing for Pakistan is the highest honor and I always try to play as a senior professional.”

” As a professional cricketer, I have faced many ups and downs throughout my life and I always walk purposefully.”

Malik said that now he doesn’t want to miss a single chance to do good for his country.

Also, Malik advised the Pakistan Cricket Board to not to select players based upon their two to three performances in league cricket or Pakistan Super League.

Further, he said that ” Before considering the player for selection, if a player performs well, then give him a chance to play at least two or three seasons so that he can show his consistency”.
