Grand Score By India
India imposed a grand score of 348 runs against New Zealand. The opponent team needed one of their senior batsmen in the absence of captain Kane Williamson.
New Zealand had a tough task in front of them and in order to chase down such a huge score they needed batsmen who can take them over the line. They messed up the chases in the T20I series with chances of victory in their side. Even though they needed 41 runs in just 54 balls with seven wickets in hand.
However, Ross Taylor stood up to take the game up and scored his 21st ODI century. He helped his team to complete their chase of the highest score in ODI cricket for a four-wicket win on Wednesday.
New Zealand Performance
Earlier that day, Tom Blundell didn’t play for long. Taylor was brought to the middle. He was a little careful at the beginning but soon came into his own.
Nicholls was taking the lead at the other end and at that point, Taylor only needed to give him the strike.
As soon as Nicholls took a break, Taylor began to speed-up after getting a spare when he was on 10. A call for a single run eventually brought Nicholls’s wicket after his 78 runs as Kohli knocked the stumps.
With Ross Taylor and Tom Latham playing in the middle order, they scored 109 and 69 respectively. New Zealand required 56 runs in just 60 balls. This calculation was brought down further to 26 runs in 38 balls.
India needed a wicket to cause a collapse for the New Zealand team. And the collapse brought by Kuldeep Yadav as he took Latham’s wicket and ended the match-changing 138-run that came from just 79 balls.
