Rohit Sharma starts net practice after recovering from COVID-19

After recuperating from COVID-19, Rohit Sharma hit the practice nets, much to the relief of Indian supporters. The fifth and final rescheduled Test match was due to begin on July 1 at Birmingham’s Edgbaston Cricket Stadium, but the Indian captain was unable to participate because of COVID-19. After receiving a positive COVID-19 test, Rohit Sharma, who was participating in India’s present four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire, was placed in quarantine. The 35-year-old was released from isolation when a Covid-19 test came back negative.

However, as per PTI report, a senior BCCI official has announced a good news. He clarified that Rohit is out of quarantine that put a smile on the Indian and Rohit Sharma’s fans.

“Yes, Rohit has tested negative and as per medical protocols is now out of quarantine. However, he is not playing today’s T20 warm-up game against Northamptonshire. As he will need some recovery time and training ahead of first T20I.” a senior BCCI official told PTI.

Jasprit Bumrah named as captain of India in the absence of Rohit Sharma 

The Indian management was desperate for Rohit to play, but he tested positive three times before the game, forcing India to play without their all-format captain.

Indian management later named Jasprit Bumrah as the new captain for the 5th rescheduled England test.

Although, as per the latest developments, Rohit is now on recovering mode. And will start his England campaign with the first game T20I game itself. While the players, who are currently competing in the one-off test versus England will join the squad from second T20I. Top players include, Virat Kohli, Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja will be available from the second game onwards.

India will play a three-match T20I series England, starting July 7. While they will have to 3 ODIs after the completion of the shortest format of the game series.

Earlier, Dinesh Karthik lead the Indian team that triumphed in both of the two T20Is against the county clubs of England.
