Stand-in India captain Rohit Sharma had walked off Delhi’s Kotla ground after being hit by a ball during training ahead India’s first T20I against Bangladesh.
Sharma’s niggle came as a setback for both the team management and the Indian fans with regular captain Virat Kohli rested for the three-match series.

BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) made the current status of Sharma’s injury public.
It was confirmed in a statement released by the BCCI that on Sunday, Sharma will take the field. The first T20I is going to be Sharma’s 16th game as India’s captain.
Speaking at an event in Delhi yesterday, Sharma remained unperturbed about the prevailing “Public Health Emergency” in Delhi affecting the first T20I. He said, “I have just landed and haven’t had time to assess. As far as I know, the game is to be played on November 3 and will be played.”
“We didn’t have any problem when we played the Test match here [vs Sri Lanka in 2017]. We are not aware of the exact discussion and I haven’t had any problem,” Sharma was quoted as saying.
