Pop sensation Rihanna had extended her support to the ongoing farmers’ protest in Delhi via a tweet. Post which, former England cricketer Monty Panesar invited the Grammy winner and celebrated pop icon for an interview over the nationwide protest against the farm laws in India. Rihanna is the latest in the growing list of celebrities to leverage the power of social media to stand in the support of the Indian farmers. The “love the way you lie” singer questioned the current standoff between the farmers and the government over the controversial farm laws.

Rihanna took her Twitter account on Tuesday wherein the multiple Grammy award winner shared a post regarding the farmers’ protest in India. She put out a tweet saying, ”Why aren’t we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest.” Rihanna, who enjoys soaring popularity across all social media platforms. She has over 100 million followers on Twitter. Hence, Rihanna’s tweet about the farmers’ protest in the national capital soon became the talk of the town on the microblogging site.

It sort of came as a surprise that a pop-cultural icon like Rihanna was so concerned about the happenings in India. While it is true that the farmer’s protests across the nation have captured the imagination of the whole world. But still for an icon like Rihanna to come out in solidarity for Indian farmers is a huge thing. If we look at Rihanna’s tweet about the farmers’ protest, the pop icon’s post has garnered over 100k likes and 55k retweets on Twitter.
Responding to Rihanna’s tweet, former England spinner Monty Panesar asked Rihanna to join the Englishman for an interview in a bid to discuss the farmers’ issues in India. “It would be an honour to interview you @panjabradio_ @AsianFXRadio on my show ‘The Full Monty’ this Saturday to talk about farmers issues in India #farmersrprotest #IndianFarmersRevolution2020,” Panesar said in his tweet.

It will be pretty interesting to see how the conversation between Rihanna and Panesar pan out in this regard. Rihanna is an outspoken celebrity who doesn’t hold anything back while Panesar is usually a reticent personality who doesn’t let out his emotions so easily.
