On the second day of the second Test of India and South Africa in Pune, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was found guilty of running on the pitch. He was issued an official warning by umpire Chris Gaffaney.

Jadeja was seen running in the middle of the pitch again. Just as he started to run for a single, Jadeja realized his mistake and leaped to his left immediately to make sure he didn’t run again on the pitch.

If any other player from India repeats the same in the match, the team will be penalized and five runs will also be granted to South Africa. Jadeja was found guilty of committing the same mistake during New Zealand’s tour of India in 2016 and it had cost the home team five runs.

In the 118th over, batting at no.6, Jadeja scored his 12th test half-century to propel India to 601/5 in 156.3 overs. Jadeja scored 91 (104) with the help of eight fours and two sixes before he got out.

Jadeja shared a 225-run partnership with Captain Virat Kohli for the fifth wicket, who was unbeaten on 254 (336) with 33 fours and two sixes. Since the start of 2017, Jadeja had scored 873 runs in 20 Tests at an average of 48.50. These runs include one century and eight half-centuries with a strike rate of 65.14.
