Rajasthan Royals Open To Shortened IPL With “Only Indian Players”

Rajasthan Royals CEO Ranjit Barthakur: “A shortened IPL with just Indian players would be good enough”

On Wednesday (01-04-2020), CEO of Rajasthan Royals Ranjit Barthakur said that even an abridged IPL with only Indian players would be good in this difficult situation. And also he revealed that the last call on the cash-rich event’s fate is doubtful to be taken place before 15th April.

The top executive of Rajasthan Royals said his franchise’s desire even as the positive cases of coronavirus and death toll to the pandemic is continuously rising in all over the world.

The BCCI needs to take a decision on the 2020 IPL, which is postponed to 15th April from 29th March because of COVID-19 and for the travel restriction of overseas players.

Ranjit Barthakur said to PTI “We are ready to shorten the league with just Indian players, whatever, it is the Indian Premier League.”

With a lockdown all over the country to diminish the spreading of the deadly virus, IPL seems unlikely to go forward unless the BCCI finds out another window later this year by compromising with some bilateral commitments.

The executive of Rajasthan Royals said that they pre pretty much sure that the BCCI will take an appropriate decision by considering the best interests of the franchises.

He said, “these are difficult situations and the BCCI will figure out the best it can when the things get improved.”

He added “Earlier we didn’t think about only-Indians IPL but at this current situation, there are very good talents to select from. It is a good idea to hold IPL with only Indian players than not at all.”

“When can we have the decision? That the call of BCCI. And according to me, that call can be taken only after April 15.”

Till now, the ferocious Coronavirus has affected more than 850,000 people all over the world while more than 42,000 people have already died.

In India, there are 1600 positive cases and 40 people have died.
