Imad Wasim Appreciaties Late Dean Jones’ Contribution

Late Dean Jones guided the Kings to PSL 2020 playoffs before the league got suspended due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Dean Jones, however, passed away in India while he was working as a broadcaster for Dream11 IPL 2020 before the PSL 2020 could resume. The Pakistan top-tier league got a rescheduled date and Karachi Kings were crowned as the champions. The PSL 2020 winners acknowledged the efforts of their late coach after bagging the title.

Imad Wasim, while speaking in a post-match interview, talked about Dean Jones’ handout in Karachi Kings’ recent success. Imad Wasim added that Dean Jones gave Karachi Kings some valuable lessons which are very rare to get from other coaches. The skipper also thanked Wasim Akram who filled the position of Karachi Kings’ coach after the passing of Dean Jones. Imad Wasim pointed out Wasim Akram’s dedication towards the team as he played the role of their head coach, bowling coach, mentor, and team president all at once.

Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans paired-up to pay their homage to Australian legend Dean Jones before the start of PSL 2020 playoffs. All the 22 players combined and created a big ‘D’ in the ground while giving tribute to Dean Jones. Dean Jones also coached PSL side Islamabad United, the side which won two of the first three Pakistan Super League finals. Dean Jones passed away on 24 September 2020 due to cardiac arrest at the age of 59.
