Prithvi Shaw’s Tough Period In Last 12 Months

Prithvi Shaw’s Career Struggle

It is not easy for any player to have an easy ride in international cricket but the young Indian opener Prithvi Shaw got a chance to regain his career.

He went through a tough time last year, from getting an ankle injury that spoiled his first chance to tour Australia with the senior A team to his doping ban.

Prithvi Shaw’s Injuries

Ankle Injury From Australia Tests

He got an ankle injury while fielding in a tour match in Australia. Then he was all set to play Test cricket in Australia but was dropped from the entire series because of an injury.

Missed West Indies Tour Due To Hip Injury

Shaw played for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League in 2019 and had a reasonable stint, scoring 353 runs in 16 matches. But after this, he missed the West Indies tour after the World Cup 2019 due to a hip injury.

The Big Dop Ban

The biggest controversy in his career was the 8-month ban for doping. He had accidentally consumed an unauthorized substance which is mainly found in cough syrup.

His urine sample was collected and tested. Results said that it contained Terbutaline, a substance that is in the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Prohibited List.

Another Injury In Ranji

After his ban ended on November 15, he started playing domestic cricket. In his first match, he made 63 off 38 balls in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy against Assam in Mumbai.

However, he contracted another injury by hurting his shoulder in a Ranji Trophy match against Karnataka.

Back To The Team

After recovering from the recent problems, he had been selected for the New Zealand tour with India A squad. He used this chance to score many runs.

On this tour, he made 150 off 100 balls. Two days later, Shaw was picked to play in the New Zealand ODI series.
