Naseem Shah, the youngest player from Pakistan, had a mixed start to his Test career as he was the youngest player to make a debut during the Australian tour. The youngster couldn’t make an impression in his debut game, though he got the wicket of opener David Warner, it was on a no-ball. He ultimately removed Warner in that innings but was discarded from the following Test. Naseem Shah came to the playing XI in the Rawalpindi Test against Sri Lanka which was the first Test hosted by Pakistan in nearly a decade. In the first innings of the Karachi Test, the 16-year-old Naseem took two wickets but gave away 71 runs in only 16 overs. In the first home Test win for Pakistan since 2006, Shah took 5/31 in the 12.5 overs. Naseem Shah was 16 years only; at the time of debut, he was the 2nd youngest to take a 5-wicket haul.

The left-hand spinner, Nasim-ul-Ghani took a five-wicket haul when he was 16 years and 303 days on his debut; Naseem at the start of the Karachi Test was four days younger than him. Back in 1958 in the Georgetown Test match against West Indies, Nasim took 5/116 to become the first youngest bowler to have a 5-wicket haul with his 5/31 on Monday. Mohammad Amir’s record created in 2009 was broken by Naseem. Nasim-ul-Ghani is 78 years old now.
