Amir’s expertise, according to Inzamam, would have helped Pakistan’s team significantly in the competition. The senior advised the fast bowler to rethink his retirement choice and to express his problems to the team’s present administration.

It shouldn’t be like I won’t play for this management: Inzamam

“Mohammad Amir could also have been considered. But he has actually announced his retirement. There could have been some experience in the fast-bowling department. But it shouldn’t be like I won’t play for this management”.

“You can get your concerns recorded; you can share the issues with the Board. You could have tried playing after that. It is a different matter if you don’t want to play, it is your decision,” Inzamam said in an Interaction.

Shoaib Malik, who hasn’t featured international cricket in over a year, was also targeted by Inzamam. Malik is presently playing in the 2021 CPL for the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

“You have tried Haider (Ali), Azam Khan, and a lot of others in the middle-order, but no one has scored. The middle-order is an important position. Shoaib Malik is a senior player. If he does the job for you till the World Cup, he should be considered for sure,” he added.

Fakhar Zaman was one of the major absences from Pakistan’s roster. Inzamam stated that while Zaman has performed well in ODIs, his T20I efforts have not been as impressive. He also stated that if Sharjeel Khan was not expelled, he might just be one of the best T20 players of all time.

Shan Masood was also chosen by Inzamam, who believes the last one plays clever cricket and scores with calculated strokes. Masood has performed admirably for the Multan Sultans in the previous 2 PSL seasons.

Inzamam-ul-Haq’s T20-WC Team:

Babar Azam, Sharjeel Khan, Shan Masood, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, Usman Qadir, Faheem Ashraf, Hassan Ali, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Shaheen Afridi
