New Zealand Defeated India In The 2nd Test And Swept Them In The Series

India Tour Of New Zealand

India tour of New Zealand has ended with the second Test match between the teams, which left skipper Virat Kohli deflated as New Zealand won the second Test inside three days.

The Black Caps defeated team India by 7 wickets in Christchurch on Monday. New Zealand won the first Test by 10 wickets early on day four, thus it whitewashed India in the series.

India Innings

New Zealand won the toss and invited India to bat first. India started the day at 90-6 and was completely bowled-out, they managed to score a total of 242 in the first innings. In the second innings, India scored 124 and it ended as a disappointing tour for India and for captain Virat Kohli.

Prithvi Shaw hit a half-century in 64 balls while Cheteshwar Pujara managed to score 54 off 140 deliveries, Hanuma Vihari hit 55 in 70 balls. The trio helped India to reach a total of 242 with their half-centuries in the first innings.

Skipper Kohli only made 3 runs in 15 balls and later dismissed by Southee. The rest of the players of team India didn’t show any significant performance in the game.

New Zealand Innings

From the Kiwis side, Tom Latham showed a significant game in both the innings. In the second Test, Latham hit half-centuries and helped his side to win the series.

The player scored 52 in 122 deliveries in the first innings and in the second, he hit 52 off 74. He notched his 18th half-century and second of the Test before he was dismissed by Umesh Yadav.

New Zealand is now unbeaten in its last 13 home Tests by winning all the nine games. And in the past decade, their record as hosts is quite impressive, as they played 39 games and won 20 out of them.
