Labuschagne Hoping For Spot In Australia Team For T20-WC

Marnus Labuschagne hasn’t played for Australia in a long time. The South African-born batsman has been putting up huge figures in the longer format. His red-ball excellence won him a spot in the ODI squad, and the 27-year-old won’t surprise. Labuschagne is currently considering playing in T20Is for Australia. Despite the fact that the great batter still has to play in a T20I match, he has performed admirably in a number of T20 tournaments, including the Big Bash League. In reality, Labuschagne is part of a fantastic run in the T20 Blast 2021, which is now underway. He has 390 runs in 8-games, with an average of over 50 and a batting average of above 140. Not only that, but with his leg-breaks, the youngster has taken 9 wickets in the campaign.

And for Australian selectors, a similar effort would be difficult to overlook, and Labuschagne knows that. The right-hander has made it clear that he is committed to serving the National Team in all circumstances. He also believed, though, that he could not do anything to choose other than executing consistently.

I want to be playing for Australia in all three formats: Labuschagne

“I want to be there, I want to be playing for Australia in all three formats, but there’s literally nothing more I can do in this format. I’ve shown some of the things I can do well and some things I need to improve, so (selection) is not in my hands. Coming back to Glamorgan, it was one of my focuses to improve my T20 game and learn how to play that role batting at three or four,” he told in an Interview.

In the meantime, Australia’s recent West Indies T20I series is dismal. The men in yellow had nothing to do with the T20 World Cup champs who were defending themselves and lost four out of five games. Although many great players have missed this series, nothing would dispute that the current generation of Australian players may be improved. Labuschagne can therefore be recognized for the global event held in UAE and Oman.
