Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian Cricketer, during an answer-question session on the micro-blogging site of Twitter said that anybody who goes out of the crease in this season of the IPL will be Mankaded.
Mankad is a tactic named after legendary Indian bowler Vinoo Mankad, ‘Mankading’ is a method of run-out where a bowler dismisses a non-striker by hitting the bails before bowling when the latter is outside the crease. Though this is a legally permissible dismissal, it is considered against the spirit of the game.
In a match at the time of bowling usually, the non-striker uses to step out the crease in the anxiety to take a quick run. And at the time before a bowler delivers the balls and sees a chance of running that player out, he can. The method of such run-outs is termed as Mankad.
R Ashwin is straight-forward regarding Mankad
During a session in which Ravichandran Ashwin invited questions from fans on Twitter, Ashwin said that he would still do the same if faced with that situation.
“Who are the potential batsmen you can Mankad this IPL? #askash” asked a fan, to which Ashwin replied, “Anyone that goes out of the crease.”

Ashwin raised a few eyebrows in the last Indian Premier League (IPL) season when he ‘Mankaded’ Jos Buttler.
Ashwin, at the time captain of the Kings XI Punjab, dismissed Jos Buttler during an IPL match when the latter had gone out of the crease at the end of the non-striker as Ashwin passed through his bowling action.
The incident divided opinions, but at the time, Ashwin was unapologetic about it, and it turns out that he still holds on to the view.
KXIP traded Ashwin to Delhi Capitals before the IPL auctions.
