KL Rahul’s Post-IPL Speech Leaves His Teammates Emotional

Kings XI Punjab noticeably rejuvenated themselves in the latest edition of the Indian Premier League 2020 (IPL), but seemingly fell short to make it to the play-offs part of the tournament. Skipper KL Rahul ended his season as the highest run-getter in the league with 670 runs under his belt. The Punjab-based side kicked-off their season in an abysmal manner by managing to grab only a single win in the first 7 games, but the Reds made a strong comeback after winning 5 games in a row.

However, their late awakening in the league was not enough to carry them in the knock-out round of IPL 2020. The final stick in Punjab’s IPL 2020 journey was their defeat against Chennai on November 1. KL Rahul and Co. failed to come with the goods in a “must-win” game, as David Warner’s SRH strolled past them to make it to the IPL 2020 playoffs.

Indian Premier League 2020: Rahul and Gayle’s emotional message to their side

On Saturday, November 7, Kings XI Punjab shared the team’s farewell video on their social media accounts. In the video, KL Rahul can be seen delivering an emotional farewell speech to his fellow counterparts. KL Rahul was captured comforting his side by describing their journey as “difficult and tough” but also stated the same to be the usual “nature of the IPL”.

Rahul acknowledged his side’s efforts in the tournament and ensured them that the team will “come back stronger next year”. New Zealand’s Jimmy Neesham was moved by the captain’s farewell speech as he can be seen left teary-eyed in the video. Windies legend Chris Gayle was the next in line to make a farewell speech in the video.

“Universal boss” Chris Gayle rode on the mood set by KL Rahul as he also had some emotional set of words for his teammates. Chris Gayle said that while the season ended on a sad note for him, it should not be the same scenario for other players. Gayle, in the video, can be seen asking the young cricketers to “learn about life” through the IPL. Kings XI Punjab ended the IPL 2020 season in 6th place with 12 points to their name.
