Kane Williamson Praised His Team For The Victory

New Zealand Whitewash India

Strong players of New Zealand like Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, and Trent Boult were unavailable in the match. And also, the fast-bowlers of the team, Seth Rance and Adam Milne are recovering from their injuries.

In addition to that Scott Kuggeleijn, Tim Southee and Mitchell Santner were also not present in the 2nd ODI due to sickness. In spite of the absence of their important players, the Black Caps found a way to beat India with 3-0 and successfully gave them their first ODI series whitewash in 22 years.

Kane Williamson Pleased By Juniors

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was completely pleased by Hamish Bennett and Kyle Jamieson for the way these junior players stepped up in the absence of their seniors.

Hamish Bennett has been an important player to Wellington Firebirds (one of six New Zealand first-class cricket teams). He smartly changed up his length and fast-bowling in the ODI. He also revealed his knuckleballs in the death overs, taking 4 wickets in the match and giving 64 runs overall. Including that, he dismissed KL Rahul who hit a century for his team.

Jamieson, who had featured for his both batting and bowling skills on his debut, followed it with a fine new-ball spell where he dismissed Mayank Agarwal and allowed the opponent to score only 53 runs in his 10-over quota.

Performance Of Other New Zealand Players

Tom Latham was one of the star players of the first match but in the 3rd ODI, he managed to score 32 off 34. Colin de Grandhomme scored unbeaten 58 in 28 balls though he was cautious against the experienced Indian bowlers.

Martin Guptill and Henry Nicholls opened for their team and showed an amazing partnership. Guptill scored a run of 66 in 46 balls but later bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal. And Nicholls made 80 off 103 balls.

Now New Zealand is set to welcome back Ferguson, Boult, and Stead for the two-match Test series. Ferguson had played in the ongoing 50-over Ford Trophy for Auckland. While Boult has been practicing bowling in the nets for the Test series, which will begin with the first game from February 21 at the Basin Reserve.
