K L Rahul As Wicket-Keeper
K L Rahul kept wickets against Australia in the three-match ODI series. He showed his value as a good player by giving a good description of himself behind the stumps.
He came into limelight again after India’s victory of six-wickets in T20I against New Zealand.
Along with wicket-keeping, he scored 56 runs off 27 balls and was involved in a 99-run partnership with Virat Kohli in the first T20I against New Zealand and helped the team chase 204 runs.
Enjoying Behind The Stumps
K L Rahul said that he was really enjoying wicket-keeping and was loving whatever the sport was providing him.
He stated, “I’m honestly loving it. At the international stage, it might seem like I’m new to wicket-keeping. But I’ve kept for my IPL franchise for the last 3-4 years and have done this role in domestic cricket.”
He is loving this responsibility. Staying behind the stumps gives him the idea of how the pitch is working. Later, he passes the message to bowlers and skipper so that they can play according to it.
Improving Over The Years
Rahul was a bit frustrated about not getting enough chances to play in the past. He was part of Team India for a long time but got only a few games.
He has improved his batting over the years. In recent times, he cemented his position at the top, leading him to perform very well.
His averages are 47.86 in ODI and 45.50 in T20 in the last 12 months, which is more than his career average.
A Strong Comeback
He also praises Shreyas Iyer for playing with a calm mind during crucial overs. Iyer finished fantastically under pressure. He remained not out on 58.
Rahul was dropped from the Tests and had a failed tour of Australia early last year. But now, he has made a strong comeback to the game and has become one of its most consistent players over the years.
