England fast bowler Jofra Archer has been given with a central contract for Test and white-ball cricket for the first time after his impactful play during the World Cup and the Ashes.
Archer was known to be England’s leading wicket-taker in their triumphant World Cup campaign. Making his England debut in May, he bowled the crucial Super Over in the finals of World Cup at Lord’s. He went on to pick 22 wickets at an average of 20.27 in the Ashes Tests against Australia.
The England Pacer, who was the only one to be qualified earlier this year was among 10 players to receive a Test deal for the 2019-20 season. Another one was Rory Burns, who has been spotted at the top of the order with his batting performance in the Ashes Test.
Both the Spinners Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid has not given with the central Test contracts but has been in the list of 12.
Burns with his impressive opening during Ashes has made him grab the Test contract, while Denly, despite missing out on the World Cup at the last minute, was handed a white-ball contract, after showing improvement during the Ashes.
There were no contracts at all for all of Alex Hales, who failed a drugs test ahead of the World Cup, Liam Plunkett, and David Willey.
