Australia’s season-campaigner Steve Smith admitted that spinner Ravichandran Ashwin got the better of him during the two recently conducted Test matches between Indian and Australia. R Ashwin took Steve Smith’s wicket twice in the first two “Border Gavaskar” Test games played at Adelaide and Melbourne, respectively. ICC’s No.1 Test batsman, Steve Smith got out for 1 run in the first Test and registered his first-ever first-innings duck in the second Test at Melbourne.

IND vs AUS: Steve Smith admits R Ashwin’s win over him
The Ajinkya Rahane-led Indians went on par with the Australians with a win in the second Tests. Indian bowlers were the primary factor in India’s dominating win against the hosts at Melbourne. Steve Smith, in a post-match interview, admitted that he allowed R Ashwin to dictate terms to him during the two Tests games, which he has never let any spinner do in his whole career.
“I probably haven’t played Ashwin as well as I would’ve liked; I probably would’ve liked to have put him under a bit more pressure,” Smith was quoted by cricket.com.au. “I’ve sort of let him dictate terms and that’s something I’ve probably never let any spinner do in my career. I’ve sort of taken it to them, been a bit more aggressive, and made them change things. I haven’t allowed that to happen [this series], probably because I’m searching for just being out there for long enough,” the batsman added.

Steve Smith looked in fine touch during the 3-match ODI series against India. Smith smashed two back-to-back centuries against the struggling Indians in the 50-50 over series. However, the 31-year-old has failed miserably against the Indians in his most beloved format so far. Smith has only managed to score 10 runs in four innings. Nevertheless, Steve Smith is motivated to find his form back in the remaining two Test matches. India will be up against Australia for the 3rd Test at Sydney from January 7th, 2021.
