IPL 2022: Week Eight Review -Top 10 Bowlers

The league stage of IPL 2022 has come to an end. It is to the credit of the curators that the pitches have still held very well.  The bowlers in the eighth week were dominant as compared to any other week. They played the starring role in many games this week. There are a few bowlers who could make it to the final list overtaking a few names present in this list. 

We Look At The Top 10 Bowlers At The End Of Week Eight:

#10 Avesh Khan (17)

He drops one position this week. Avesh Khan was taken to the cleaners in the game against KKR. His economy rate of 8.51 took a hit owing to this game. Khan stays on this list with 17 wickets. He averages 21.88 while striking every 15.41 balls. 

#9 T. Natarajan (18)

He continued to hold on to this spot this week. T. Natarajan made an impressive comeback this season. He has scalped 18 wickets this year at an average of 22.55. His economic rate of 9.44 is on the higher side. But his strike rate of 14.33 was impressive.

#8 Mohammad Shami (18)

The GT pacer dropped four spots this week. He has 18 wickets to this kitty so far. Shami will be keen to add to his tally in the playoffs with a minimum of two games guaranteed. He averages 22.88 while conceding runs at 7.77 per over. His strike rate of 17.66 is decent.

#7 Harshal Patel (18)

He has proven to everyone that he isn’t a one-season wonder. Harshal Patel has picked up 18 wickets in 13 games so far. He averages 19.77 while conceding runs at 7.68 per over. Patel’s strike rate of 15.44 is impressive. 

#6 Rashid Khan (18)

The Afghan spinner has stormed his way through into this list at the end of week eight. Rashid Khan has picked 18 wickets so far at an average of 21.55 while striking every 18.61 balls. His economic rate of 6.94 is the best on this list.

#5 Kuldeep Yadav (21)

He continues to hold on to number five on this list. Kuldeep Yadav was DC’s standout bowler this season. He has picked 21 wickets this season at an average of 19.95. His economy rate increased (8.43) in the last few games. Yadav has struck every 14.19 balls.

#4 Umran Malik (22)

SRH’s pace sensation, Umran Malik, has jumped four spots this week. He has finished this season with 22 wickets including a fiver. Malik averages 20.18 striking every 13.40 balls. He will look to work on his economy rate (9.03) in the next season.

#3 Kagiso Rabada (23)

After a mixed IPL 2021, Kagiso Rabada is back among the wicket-takers list. He finishes the season with 23 wickets to his name. Rabada averages 17.65, striking every 12.52 balls (second-best on this list). His economy rate of 8.45 was decent.

#2 Wanindu Hasaranga (24)

It has been a two-way race between the wrist spinners for the purple cap. Wanindu Hasaranga has picked 24 wickets in 14 games so far. With a minimum of 1 game, he will be hoping to add a few more to his kitty. Hasaranga averages 15.08 with the ball (best on the list). His economic rate of 7.38 stands out too. He strikes every 12.25 balls (best on the list)

#1 Yuzvendra Chahal (26)

It has become a recurring pattern for Yuzvendra Chahal to top the list at the end of a week. He continues to dominate the wicket-takers charts. Chahal has picked 26 wickets so far. He will be keen to breach the 30-wicket mark during the playoffs stage. Chahal averages 16.53 with the ball, striking at every 12.92 balls. He concedes runs at 7.67 per over.
