Virat Kohli who has been stepped down as skipper of the Bangalore side after the conclusion of the previous IPL season left the captaincy spot vacant till now. Du Plessis is a tough taskmaster, the man who led South Africa from December 2016 to February 2020 after being named all-format skipper in August 2017. He has acquired for INR 7 crore by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2022 IPL Mega Auction.
Besides that, the 3-time finalists made several significant signings, such as Dinesh Karthik, Akash Deep, Anuj Rawat, and others. Featuring Sri Lankan spin bowler Wanindu Hasaranga, Jason Behrendorff, Finn Allen, and the pace combo of David Willey and Josh Hazlewood, to mention a few, RCB executed very smart overseas imports.

Alongside from leadership professional experience stage, the South Africa legend has become one of the most experienced batsmen in the IPL, having played a crucial role in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) 2018 and 2021 tournament triumphs.
Faf du Plessis was a key part of CSK in IPL 2021, contributing significantly to the team’s 4th title success. In addition, he concluded the year as the 2nd-highest run-scorer with 633 runs from 16 games, only 2 runs behind his teammate and Orange Cap champion Ruturaj Gaikwad, who concluded with 635 runs. Despite of substantial performances in recent seasons, the experienced cricketer was sacked by the team.
Also, RCB spent INR 10.75 crore for speedster Harshal Patel, who won the Purple Cap the previous season. RCB has reached the finals three times, in 2009, 2011, and 2016, but has never gone all the way.
They’d be looking for a turnaround in fortunes this year, with a good team to their pool. On March 27, Bangalore will play Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai to begin their IPL 2022 season.
