IPL 2021: How Can KKR Make It To The IPL 14 Playoffs?

Kolkata Knight Riders started their season with a win against Sunrisers Hyderabad but it has been a flop show since then. They lost four consecutive games against MI, RCB, CSK and RR to see themselves at the bottom of the points table. However, their Monday night win against Punjab Kings saw them climbing to the 5th position in the table. KKR still has a chance to overturn their season, here’s how.

IPL 2021: How can KKR lift their season up

Top-order performance

KKR’s top-order batsmen have been their weakest spot. Players like Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi and Dinesh Karthik have failed to hand consistent performance. Eoin Morgan will need a solid opening partnership from Rana and Gill from here on if they wish to book their place in the playoffs.

More from the finishers

KKR have some big names in the finisher’s department with Eoin Morgan, Andre Russel and Pat Cummins on their side. However, these explosive players have failed to deliver consistently. Russel and Cummins showed their class against CSK and Morgan carried his side against PBKS. Nevertheless, these players will need to come up with more such performances for KKR in the remaining games.

KKR’s spinning curve

KKR have some high-end spinners in the name of Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, Shakib Al Hasan and Harbhajan Singh. The Narendra Modi stadium, on Monday, saw the pitch favouring the spinners. KKR can, now, use their strong spinning attack against Delhi Capitals and Royal CHallengers Bangalore in their upcoming games at the Narendra Modi stadium.
