The Board of Cricket Council In India (BCCI) were forced to suspend the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. Many players including members of the staff got tested positive for COVID-19. The teams were under strict bio-bubble, however, even that couldn’t help their cause of staying away from the disease. Here you can know the reasons which lead to the Cancellation Of The League

The second wave of the lethal disease has hit India very harshly. It is reported that a couple of players and staff caught the disease while travelling from one stadium to another. While it is being said that KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy might have got infected with COVID-19 when he visited a hospital to get checked up for his shoulder injury.

Cancellation of the league – An official statement by a BCCI official

“Frankly, things started unravelling once the positive cases emerged within the bio-bubble. We don’t know how many players, coaches and support staff will test positive in the next few days. The secure bio-bubble no longer existed and everyone was worried. There was no other option. We could not continue with the tournament,” a top BCCI official, sharing some scary details from the league, told The Indian Express.

“I don’t know. Earlier, during Covid-I, it was said that if you don’t maintain social distance or not wear a mask, the virus would spread. If you maintained social distancing, that was ok. But now, Covid-II is spreading through the air. We don’t know how these boys have got it. Otherwise, the bubble is pretty good and safe. We will look into it as to how they got it,” he told News 18.
