Sunrisers Hyderabad Had Opted To Bowl After Winning The Toss:
Kane Williamson and Jonny Bairstow got off to a flying start with Sunrisers Hyderabad, adding 57/0 to the Powerplay. In quick succession, however, Lockie Ferguson, playing his first game of the season, selected two wickets to pull things back for KKR. On his very first ball, he got rid of Williamson and then cleaned up Priyam Garg to hand KKR a double strike.
Bairstow was dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy to further drive SRH on the backfoot. When he clean bowled Manish Pandey with a 148kph yorker, Ferguson got his third wicket. Earlier, KKR ‘s former skipper Dinesh Karthik (29 * out of 14) and current captain Eoin Morgan (34 out of 23) had a crucial partnership that helped them cross a 163/5 competitive total against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday in Abu Dhabi.
Morgan got out on the final ball of the innings, but for the fifth wicket, the duo had done their job, adding 58 runs. Earlier, after SRH skipper David Warner decided to bowl after winning the toss, KKR openers Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi gave their side a good start. On the last ball of the Power Play, T T Natarajan cleaned up Rahul Tripathi to give SRH the first breakthrough.
Nitish Rana took control of Rashid Khan’s SRH strike bowler, smashing him for a couple of boundaries. The leg-spinner returned strongly and broke the partnership, thanks to a sensational catch taken by Priyam Garg in the deep, to drop Gill in his next over. In the next over, Vijay Shankar got rid of Rana to poke KKR on the backfoot. The bad form of Andre Russell with the bat in IPL 2020 continued as his miscued shot off Natarajan went directly into the deep midwicket fielder ‘s hands.
