Tymal Mills will miss the remainder of the Hundred due to injury, but he is still optimistic that he will be selected for England’s T20 World Cup team. Mills debuted for England in the T20 World Cup 2020 held in UAE as a result of his strong game for Sussex and Southern Brave the previous season, but he missed the remainder of the World Cup due to a thigh injury he sustained against Sri Lanka. Since then, he hasn’t played international cricket but will look to be included in World Cup Squad if fit.

His performance has declined this year, as he was forced to miss five of England’s six domestic T20 matches this summer due to a toe injury. When he did get to play, he bowled three overs against India at the Ageas Bowl and collected 1 for 35.

But after that game, his toe flared up once more, necessitating surgery on Friday morning, followed by another procedure on Wednesday, which disqualified him from the remainder of the competition.

Given England’s fast-bowling injury crisis, he still has some hope of participating in the World Cup. He is working to get healthy in time for England’s September trip to Pakistan when they play seven Twenty20 internationals. The tour will start precisely on September 20 and will last till October 2, concluding just before the T20 World Cup that will begin in Australia on October 16.

Brave will be able to find a substitute for Mills, but they are having a problem with their fast bowlers’ availability. They may need to win all five of their remaining group games to get to the knockout stages after two losses in their first three games.

Craig Overton was scheduled to play on Sunday against the Oval Invincibles, but it is unlikely that he will take the field after complaining of back discomfort while representing the England Lions. Meanwhile, George Garton is being carefully watched after Long Covid, while Chris Jordan suffered a cut to his finger in their Friday night loss to London Spirit.
