“India Holds A Lot Of Power In World Cricket”- Says Tim Paine While Speaking About The Brisbane Test Controversy

Australian skipper Tim Paine took a sly dig while referring to BCCI’s hold at International cricket. As per reports, the Indian cricket team are seemingly reluctant to travel to Brisbane for their fourth Test match against Australia in the “Border Gavaskar” series. The reports suggest that Indians are being hesitant to follow the strict COVID-19 protocols which are currently being imposed at Brisbane after serving a large part of their tour being under self-isolation in Australia.

IND vs AUS: Tim Paine speaks out about India’s power in world cricket

Tim Paine believes that adamant Indians have caused a certain ‘uncertainty’ which can also lead to the cancellation of the fourth Test. Tim Paine, in a post-match interview before the 3rd Test, claimed that Indians are using their power to mold the rules according to them. “A bit of uncertainty because when you hear things like that coming particularly from India, which holds a lot of power in world cricket, it’s likely that it could happen,” said Paine during a virtual media interaction on Wednesday.

There are strong rumors which suggest that Team India might not agree to travel to Brisbane for the fourth Test. As reported, the Men in Blue will have to undergo a strict quarantine process in Brisbane. During the quarantine, the players will not be allowed to even leave their rooms and meet their teammates. Nevertheless, the BCCI voiced their opinion against the hard set of rules which forced Cricket Australia (CA) to cut some slack for the visitors. It is now stated that players can meet in a bio-bubble inside the hotel. It was also reported that harsh comments from a few of Queensland’s ministers didn’t go down well with members of the BCCI.

“It will be fascinating not just from a cricketing point of view but also the tension boiling under the surface with a lot of unnamed sources coming out from their camp as to where they are going to play their fourth Test, where they don’t want to go ….So let’s see how it goes,” the Australian skipper said. “For us, we just want to be clear on this Test match, we know the protocols and we know what’s expected of us, we will focus on that this week and then whatever happens next week happens and we will adapt to it. “We are not too fussed as to where the Test is being played and we couldn’t care less if you rang up and said that it’s in Mumbai. We will get onto a plan and we will go and play.”
