Australian season campaigner Steve Smith found his mojo back against India after two flop Test performances at Adelaide and Melbourne. Smith racked up totals of 131 and 81 runs in Sydney. However. the 32-year-old Australian fell in the trap of debutant Washington Sundar in the first innings where he was dismissed for just 36 runs. Nevertheless, Smith savored a crucial 55 runs in the 2nd innings at Gabba and with that, the former Australian skipper broke a long-set record by the legend of cricket Sachin Tendulkar.

India vs Australia 4th Test: Steve Smith reaches 7,500 runs
On Day 4 of the fourth Test, Smith completed 7,500 runs in red-ball cricket. Smith reached the landmark in just 139th Test innings breaking the record of the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. The aforementioned Indians reach the feat in their 144th innings. Former West Indian player Garfield Sobers (147 innings ) and legendary Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara (147 innings) are also part of the cream group. Apart from Tendulkar and Sehwag, Smith also bettered the record of Indian ace Rahul Dravid (148th innings), who was the 6th quickest batsman to reach the 7,500 runs mark.

India vs Australia 4th Test: Day 4, Stumps
At the time of publishing, India are 4-0 at the end of Day 4. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will start the innings for the “Men in Blue” on Day 5 at Gabba. The Indians have a total of 328 runs to chase in their quest to win the “Border Gavaskar” trophy. Australians, on the other hand, will be needing 10 perfect deliveries to claim the auspicious trophy back from the Indians.
