IND vs AUS: KL Rahul Declared Injured Before The Third Test At Sydney

Team India have been dented with yet another injury blow before the third Test against Australia in Sydney. After Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav, batsman KL Rahul has been declared injured. BCCI released an official statement stating that KL Rahul picked up a wrist injury while practicing at the nets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday. The report further reads that KL Rahul will be out of the Indian squad for the coming three weeks due to the following injury. KL Rahul was tipped to replace Hanuma Vihari in the 3rd Test at Sydney.

As per reports, Rahul will start his recovery process at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The Kings XI Punjab’s skipper will soon leave the shores of Australia and return to India. The tour of Australia hasn’t been easy for the Indians. The Men in Blue traveled to Australia without the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rohit Sharma, and Ishant Sharma who were labeled injured before the tour. Mohammed Shami picked up an injury in the first Test and skipper Virat Kohli left the Indian squad for his paternity leave after the Test at Adelaide. Then, Umesh Yadav got injured in the second Test and KL Rahul’s injury has just added to the visitor’s sorrow.

Jasprit Bumrah remains the only first-choice pacer in the Indian squad. Mohammed Siraj replaced Mohammed Shami in the first Test and T Natarajan can make his Test debut in Sydney. Nevertheless, Rohit Sharma’s entry into the squad can prove to be a breath of fresh air for the Indians. India and Australia are currently at a 1-1 stalemate in the ongoing four-match Test series. While the hosts dominated the Indians at Adelaide, the “Men in Blue” gave it back to the Baggy Greens in Melbourne. Both sides will be motivated to win the upcoming crucial outing in Sydney.
