I Always Tell Boult To Bluff, That’s Exactly What He Did: Rohit

India won the opening T20I of the 3-match series by a dramatic five-wicket margin against New Zealand. Meanwhile, it was the match between Rohit Sharma and Trent Boult that drew everyone’s focus. Lets look at more about IND Vs NZ 1st T20I.

The competition between the 2 world-class performers has become even more thrilling as the duo play together for the Mumbai Indians (MI) during the Indian Premier League. The New Zealand bowler continued to bowl bouncers at Rohit Sharma. Moreover, India’s new T20I captain seemed strong and in good form throughout his spell at the crease.

Eventually, the seamer eventually got the best of his MI captain, who removed him for 48. Rohit Sharma tried to hit the slower bouncer too hard, but he was unable to pass Rachin Ravindra, who was properly positioned. Therefore, the thrilling battle between the pair came to a close with the seamer tricking the Indian starter on the 2nd delivery of the 13th over.

Boult and I Played A Lot Of Cricket Together, It’s A Good Fight – IND Vs NZ 1st T20I

The Indian T20I skipper stated that Boult was aware of his weaknesses as well as his strengths. “We (Boult and I) played a lot of cricket together and he knows my weakness and I know his strength, it’s a good fight between the two,” said Rohit.

The 34-year-old explained how the Kiwi speedster misled him with the slower-ball bouncer. He stated that they had addressed this while they were participating for MI in the IPL. “When I captain him I always tell him to bluff, and that’s exactly what he did. He put the mid-wicket back and put the fine leg up and I knew he was gonna bowl a bouncer and I was just trying to put it over the fielder but unfortunately, there wasn’t much pace on the ball,” Sharma added.

Suryakumar Yadav, on the other hand, guaranteed that his captain’s wicket did not result in a downfall and resumed. The middle-order hitter looked in magnificent form as he went on to knock a superb 62 before being bowled out by the like of Boult in the 16th over. After a few sluggish overs, India’s task became more difficult as they needed to score 10 runs in the final over. Rishabh Pant, on the other hand, remained composed and ensured that India came out on top.
