Rahul Dravid About SA vs IND 2nd Test

The former Indian player believes that the Indian hitters must bat properly and take their opportunities if they are to win the series. He provided insight on the 1st innings, in which the KL Rahul-led team was swept out for 202. According to Dravid, the opposing team, was at least 70 runs short. The former Indian captain also mentioned the importance of forming crucial partnerships.

“Honestly, we pride ourselves on wanting to do better and wanting to get better as a batting unit. We certainly have to look to seize a few key moments and certainly when you get those partnerships, may make them a little bit longer,” said Rahul Dravid.

Some of the guys who got starts could have converted them into hundreds: Dravid

The 48-year-old underlined the significance of developing good starts into huge scores. However he didn’t name in particular, India’s head coach believed that a few of his team’s batsmen should have improved their starts into massive hundreds. He even used the opponent’s opening batsman as an example, who scored an undefeated 96.

“Maybe some of the guys who got starts could have converted them into hundreds and that was the difference in the first Test as we had Rahul in the first game, who had got a hundred for us and we ended up on the winning side, and in the second game they had someone (Dean Elgar) scoring 96 and they ended up on the winning side,” he said.

“It really shows you the importance, on these kinds of wickets, of one of your batsman going on and making a big score,” he added. It must be mentioned that despite KL Rahul made a half-century in the 1st innings, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane both scored fifty in the 3rd. As a result, the hosts were forced to chase 240 in the 4th innings, and they did it with 7 wickets in hand.
