Highlights: Team India To Go 1-0 Lead Against Sri Lanka

In the first ODI of the three-game series, India comfortably beat Sri Lanka. They hunted 263 runs without breaking a sweat as their batsman worked comfortably against an inexperienced home. If the experienced Shikhar Dhawan showed composition to lead India home after the bowlers have done their work earlier this day, Prithvi Shaw and Ishan Kishan showed fearless knocks from their hands Ind vs SL Highlights 1st ODI.

India vs Sri Lanka, 1st ODI Highlights Score

Sri Lanka had won the toss and elected to bat first, and their openers set the team over to a nice beginning. India’s youngsters Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar never had found the expected swinging, but Avishka Fernando has shown his potential to play some amazing strokes. However, Yuzvendra Chahal was cut off from the first delivery of his session by his impressive knock of 32 runs.

Even with the debutant Bhanuka Rajapaksa hitting his blows, runs continued to flow freely. At the opposite end, Minod Bhanuka was batting carefully. However, the former gave away his wicket after attempting to get Kuldeep Yadav from his line, and the chinaman subsequently established Minod for a catch at slip later in the same over. Sri Lanka scored 89/3 in the 17th over at the time, and the hosts were unable to overcome the opponent’s bowling.

Sri Lanka have not achieved the needed run-scoring momentum

Ind vs SL Highlights 1st ODI. Each of the top 6 batsmen was given a chance to bat, and yet none of those stayed in the middle for significant innings. Even though Charith Asalanka and captain Dasun Shanaka had a good connection, the team were in a great depression in the middle. Sri Lanka never achieved the needed run-scoring momentum, but only Chamika Karunaratne’s later explosion helped them reach 262 runs after 50 overs.

He scored 19 runs in the last over against Bhuvneshwar Kumar, India’s lone wicketless bowler. Krunal Pandya was India’s most efficient bowler, allowing only 26 runs in 10 overs.

However the 263-run target was difficult at first glance for India’s inexperienced batting order, opener Prithvi Shaw had other plans. From the start, he produced some beautiful strokes that caught the Sri Lanka pacers off guard. As the visitors stormed beyond the 50-run line in the fifth over of the hunt, the front foot drives as well as backfoot punches were a delight to watch. In the sixth over, Dhananjaya de Silva got ahead of him, but not before he smashed 43 off 24 balls.

Dhawan was a key role in Team India’s Victory by developing partnerships

Kishan quickly reached his half-century, becoming the first Indian to hit fifty in both T20I as well as ODI debuts. The lefty, on the other hand, was unable to turn it into a huge hit. With more than 32 overs to go, he was out for 59 off 42 deliveries, with 8 fours and 2 sixes, and India has swept aside more than half the runs in the hunt.

Dhawan had been batting quietly all throughout, and following Kishan’s departure, he seized command of the innings. The left-hander acted as if he were a seasoned batsman in charge of the innings, ensuring that there were no interruptions in the attack at any point. Mostly in 37th over, he developed partnerships along with Manish Pandey (26) and Suryakumar Yadav (31*) to guide India to victory. Dhawan stayed undefeated on 86 runs to lead India to a spectacular victory on his captaincy debut, giving India a 1-0 series lead.
