Form Is Something That Can Hopefully Continue: Faf Du Plessis

Faf du Plessis is sure that he is ready to return to the sport. After suffering a serious concussion during the Pakistan Super League, the South African Cricket  player was forced to retire from the sport.

Faf du Plessis crashed with a teammate and lost a few months of cricketing relevant consequences. The 37-year-old said he intended to compete in The Hundred tournament, but he still had concussion symptoms, which worsened when he used the bat.

Faf also stated that he has participated in a recovery process and that he has received assistance from a few experts in England. The right-handed hitter even remarked that he just had one more obstacle to overcome before resuming his cricket career.

I have worked hard in trying to get back to normal with a good rehab program: Faf du plessis

I went over for the first match [in the Hundred] to try and play, but I still suffered quite severe concussion symptoms quite badly and especially with the batting it got worse“.

It’s been three or four weeks since then [during] which I have worked hard in trying to get back to normal with a good rehab program, and specialists in England helped me with. Today is the last hurdle when [I am] just making sure I pass the full practice at full intensity. And if I do that, then I’ll be ready to play [his team’s CPL opener],” said du Plessis.

Faf du Plessis also stated that lacking 3 months of sport involvement is not a pleasant feeling and that he desires to return to the field since there is still a lot of cricket to be played this year.

The IPL will resume in three weeks, and du Plessis will play for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team. Du Plessis continued by noting that the MS Dhoni-led team is more equal for the UAE than for the 1st half of the event and that he believes CSK can remain where they stopped over in the 1st half of the tournament.

I think our squad at Chennai is better balanced for the Dubai leg than it was for the previous [half of] IPL. The second thing [is that] we had been playing some really good cricket in the first half of the IPL, so I hope that form is something that can hopefully continue – similar to myself, [I] had a really strong first half of the IPL. So I’d like to continue [from] where I left off. But for now, it is just about getting back to playing cricket,” concluded du Plessis.
