“Thank you everyone for all the messages of support. I’m back at the hotel recovering. Have a concussion with some memory loss but I will be fine. Hopefully, be back on the field soon. Much love,” du Plessis tweeted.

Therefore, the 36-year-old batsman was replaced in the Gladiators XI by Saim Ayub after he was ruled out of the game. The Gladiators had suffered their second concussion in two days.

In the 19th over of Peshawar’s innings, du Du Plessis’ head clashed with Hasnain’s knee, causing the South African batter to collapse to the ground. It took place as Du Plessis was attempting to stop the ball at the boundary rope.

Du Plessis’ wife Imari shared a story on Instagram and wrote: “This is killing me right now. Surely he should be checked in the hospital?”

In two days it was the second time, as the Gladiators spotted on a concussion substitute. Andre Russell, the all-rounder, was struck on the helmet by Mohammad Musa bouncer during their previous encounter against Islamabad United. Fast bowler Naseem Shah has taken his spot. Which forced Russell to be out of the match against Zalmi on Saturday.

Prior to the PSL’s resumption, du Plessis played in the IPL 2021, scoring 320 runs in seven games, including four consecutive half-centuries, and helping Chennai Super Kings to a successful finish with a strong position in the points table. Therefore, the high profiled league was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
