Fans Unhappy With Virat Kohli’s Decision to Take Paternity Leave

Indian skipper Virat Kohli is known for two things- his incredible run-scoring skills and for constantly making it to the headlines. Despite being one of the best in the business, the 32-year-old batsman often finds himself in the middle of controversies. Be it for his aggressive nature on the pitch or things surrounding his personal life. Virat Kohli recently turned many heads for his decision to return to India to his pregnant wife, Anushka Sharma, after the 1st test against Australia.

Australia vs India: Fans Take a Dig at Kohli

Virat Kohli will be leading team India in the much-awaited “Down Under” tour in Australia. The Men in Blue will be up against the Aussies in a series which will start from November and will go on till January 2021. The tour will include three-match ODI series, three T20Is, and four Test matches. However, Virat Kohli will be leaving the Indian squad after the 1st Test to be with his wife during the birth of their first child in January.

BCCI confirmed the news of Virat Kohli’s absence from the last three Tests. While some fans backed Kohli’s decision to support his wife, some supporters claimed that the skipper is choosing his personal life over his country. Netizens started comparing Kohli’s situation to that of MS Dhoni’s in 2015. Former Indian captain MS Dhoni decided to continue with his national duty while wife Sakshi Dhoni was expecting their first child during the 2015 World Cup. Ziva Dhoni was born on February 6, 2015, a couple of days before India’s warm-up game against Australia.
