BJP’s oppositions and critics slammed the party for renaming the stadium after their chief and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. A majority of netizens got more furious when they realised that the bowling ends in the stadium were named Reliance and Adani, two of the biggest companies in India. However, there is more to it than what people have made about it.

As reported by Timesnownews.com, both Reliance and Adani have made a mammoth donation for building the auspicious Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave. Sources confirm that the mentioned companies agreed to pay the sum in return for the ends being named after them. The reports further add that the Adani End was in fact handed during the rule of Congress in the state during the regime of Chimanbhai Patel.

Reliance End was previously given to a government body, GDMC. However, Reliance claimed the rights after they made the heavy donation for the building of the stadium. There are other reports which claim that the government are keen to sell the east and west stands to other corporates as there a total of 78 boxes in the Narendra Modi stadium.
