England’s Confused Order Led Them To Lose The Match

South Africa Beat England

England needed certain necessary runs during the last seven deliveries of their innings. They had five wickets in hand and captain Eoin Morgan and Moeen Ali were at the crease. It looked like England had the match under their control and it was easy to perform well.

Instead of that, they lost four wickets and collected just five runs and fell short to chase the total. Lungi Ngidi‘s final over led South Africa to win the match. He dismissed Moeen Ali and Tom Curran during the last overs.

England’s Performance

Jason Roy showed a powerful inning by scoring 70 runs in 38 balls. When Hendricks gave his deliveries, Roy hit his first ball at 85mph length for a boundary through midwicket. Eoin Morgan hit a half-century in 34 balls but later got dismissed by Hendricks.

Denly had a difficult time. He had one delivery clip off the pads straight through his legs. and managed to score only 3 runs in 4 balls. Other batsmen from the England team didn’t make any huge success in the match.

Final Over Performance

The main reason why South Africa was capable of giving such a huge total on the scoreboard was the fact that England was too slow to adopt the pitch. But England did few favors to themselves too on the field. Jason Roy covered a high catch given by Jon-Jon Smuts.

South Africa lacked batting depth, and an impressive finish from Wood and Chris Jordan was seemed to give a tough challenge, but their total of 177 runs was higher than expected.

In the final over, Ngidi remained calm to give only five runs to the opponents, while Curran survived the deep midwicket. Moeen bowled by a yorker from Ngidi, and Rashid was not able to manage the ball past Steyn at short midwicket off the final ball.

No doubt that South Africa played fine cricket but this was a game that England let slip away from their hands.
