Shikhar Dhawan To Miss Out New Zealand T20 Series:
Shikhar Dhawan, who suffered a shoulder injury in the third One-day International against Australia, has been ruled out of the upcoming five-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series against New Zealand, beginning from January 24th.
Shikhar Dhawan didn’t travel with the squad to Auckland on Monday, and the selectors are yet to announce his replacement.
Shikhar Dhawan did not field after he hurt his left shoulder when he tried to stop a shot of Aaron Finch at the point region. After India’s success in Bengaluru, the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) supervisor said the medical group would evaluate Dhawan’s scan reports. His participation in the New Zealand tour, however, is highly doubtful.
“Shikhar’s reports are here. The medical group is taking a look at the outputs. He will be surveyed, and his condition will be dealt with and afterward, we will accept a call as and when we go,” the BCCI media chief said.
India faces another injury issue of Ishant Sharma:
India faces another injury scare on Monday as quick bowler Ishant Sharma injured his lower leg while playing a Ranji Trophy game in Delhi.
“Ishant has contorted his lower leg and has expanded. It’s looking quite terrible right now. We won’t hazard him again in this match. How about we trust it is anything but a break,” a senior Delhi group the board member said to the PTI.
The BCCI is yet to name ODI and Test squads. Ishant Sharma, who picked 25 wickets in 6 Tests, will be hoping to recoup in time for the Test series that starts on February 21.
The Indian squad left for New Zealand on Monday where they will play five T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests.
