Dhoni Wanted To Earn Just Rs 30 Lakhs From Cricket : Wasim Jaffer

Wasim Jaffer Is Dhoni’s Former Teammate

Former opening batsman Wasim Jaffer recalls that India’s two-time world cup winning captain M.S.Dhoni all wanted was to earn 30 lakh rupees from his cricketing career and live peacefully in his native place Ranchi.

Jaffer, who was Dhoni’s teammate, once revealed this unusual incident where he said he remembers Dhoni admitting to him that his aim was making 30 lakh rupees from playing cricket so that he can lead a peaceful life in Ranchi.

The 42-year-old on his Twitter answering a question from a fan said, “In his 1st or 2nd year in the Indian team, I remember he said, he wants to make 30lakhs from playing cricket so he can live rest of his life peacefully in Ranchi.”

Jaffer, who belongs to Mumbai, commented when a Twitter user asked him his favorite moment with M.S.Dhoni, who was the captain of India when it won the T20 World cup in 2007 and 50 overs world cup in 2011.

The stylish batsman who represented India from the year 2000 to 2008 retired from all forms of cricket earlier this month. He appointed as batting coach for the Bangladesh cricket team last year.

Is Dhoni’s Retirement Imminent?

Dhoni, who has been away from playing cricket for India for the past eight and half months last played the game against New Zealand in semifinals of last year’s world cup where India lost.

He was supposed to make a comeback to cricket in IPL leading the Chennai Super Kings, but it has delayed, as the mega event was postponed to April 15th from March 29th due to coronavirus breakout.

There have been speculations that Dhoni might retire from international cricket soon as many feel that he might not get selected for the T20 world cup that is scheduled to be held from October 18th this year in Australia.
