David Hodgkiss, Lancashire Chairman Dies With Coronavirus

Lancashire Cricket Declares The Passing Of Their Honourable Chairman David Hodgkiss OBE:

David Hodgkiss, chairman of the Lancashire cricket club has died after suffering from deadly coronavirus. He was 71 years old. And for long 22 years, he was working on the board at Emirate Old Trafford.

In the year 1998, he had joined Lancashire cricket for the first time and in 2017 April, took the responsibility as chairman from Michael Cairns. During his service time, he also worked as an honorary treasurer as well as vice-chairman of the club.

The Lancashire cricket club announced, “from the family of David Hodgkiss OBE, Lancashire Cricket announced with great sadness that the passing of our Chairman due to COVID-19”.

 Further, it added “David Hodgkiss OBE served the Lancashire Cricket Club with perfection over many years as a treasurer, vice-chairman and finally as a chairman. At the Club, everyone loves him. He was respected all over the cricketing world.

 “Our earnest condolences and feelings and prayers are with his family. In due course, a further statement will be released but at this crucial time we ask that everybody takes care of the privacy of the family”.

Other Condolence Messages:

Chief Executive of Lancashire Cricket Club, Daniel Gidney gave his love and respect for David on Twitter and said “ Now, I am completely shattered to lose my beloved friend. RIP David.”

Chairman of ECB, Colin Graves said:” David was an important part of Lancashire Cricket and he was very much passionate regarding the improvement and growth of the sports in the country”.

He also added “ David played a crucial role in the Emirates Old Trafford’s redevelopment process and its position as a top international ground is proof of his dedication and hard work.

 “On behalf of everybody at the Wales Cricket Board and England, our thoughts and support are with his family, friends and each person associated with  Lancashire County Cricket Club at this crucial time.”
