CSA Revealed India Vs South Africa ODI Series Will Go Ahead As Planned Amid COVID-19 Concerns

A three-match one-day international series is going to start from March 12 between India and South Africa. In present scenario Coronavirus which emerged in China and spread over many countries creating chaos in many sports events, because of which south Africa tour of India thought to be disturbed as 30 cases were tested positive in India. Although CSA cricket South Africa made it clear that the series will go ahead as per plan and the proteas will be traveling to India as per schedule.

South Africa team will reach India via Dubai and spend a day in Delhi where the threat of coronavirus is less. The first match is going to held at Dharamsala on March 12 followed by two matches at Lucknow and Kolkata on March 15th and 18th respectively. Regarding this few players are going to stay in India for 11 days after which some players returns to their home and few players will stay in India for the upcoming IPL season.

Even though the risk is less but the health and safety of players and staff is a primary concern due to which CSA engaged in the risk assessment process.  “This risk assessment is done on the basis of the information provided by international experts, the US Centre for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the South African Department of Health and the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD). We have also been liaising with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the South African embassy in India and Indian security and risk experts. The government of India has also provided the necessary assurances,” CSA said.

CSA also added, “No positive cases have come up in the places where we will play. And traveling by chartered flight between these cities will reduce the risk further. The danger is less in Dubai Delhi. The team will be accompanied by CSA medical officer Dr. Shuaib Manjra, as a team doctor.
