Cheteshwar Pujara has received appreciation from former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif for his quick return to the Test team. The seasoned batsman was benched for India’s most recent Test series against Sri Lanka, but he will play in the rescheduled Test match against England. Here in this article, we talk about Cheteshwar Pujara’s return to Test team.
The 34-year-old Test specialist hasn’t reached a century since January 2019, and because of his subpar play, he was dropped from the Indian team following the South Africa series in January 2022.
As a player for India, Cheteshwar Pujara has excelled:
In just eight innings, Mohammad Kaif Pujara amassed 720 runs at an amazing average of 120.0 during a very successful time with Sussex. Young people should take inspiration from Pujara, according to Kaif, because of his perseverance and his decisions after being kicked out of the national setup.
He also thinks that in the forthcoming Test match against England on July 1st, the seasoned player would bat at number three.
“You can learn so much from Pujara. If you get dropped, what do you have to do as a batter? You go back to County, you go back to Ranji and you score runs and runs and I mean, score tons and tons of runs.
He has done that. He’s an example for any young player who has been dropped and how to make a comeback. Probably you should go back to Pujara and watch what he has done in the last couple of months. He has been a fantastic player for India also. And I think he’ll play No.3 for India,” Kaif remarked in an interview with NDTV.
Ajinkya Rahane, Pujara’s middle-order partner, was benched during the South Africa series and will not be traveling to England due to an injury sustained while competing for KKR in the IPL 2022 last month. He participated in the Ranji Trophy in 2022 as well, and in just four innings, he made a statement by making a century and a fifty.
