Boult, de Grandhomme Recover from Injuries – Cleared for Australia Tour

On Friday New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme and pacer Trent Boult have been cleared for Australia tour ahead of the first Test in Perth.

Both Trent Boult and Grandhomme have recovered from their respective injuries and have successfully participated in a training session in Mount Maunganui. Boult and Grandhomme had been ruled out from the second Test against England. Trent Boult sustained a side strain injury and was unable to bowl more than 1 over on the final day of the first test against England. On the other hand, de Grandhomme suffered a tear to his left lower abdominal muscle in the same game.

New Zealand cricket tweeted, “Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme are both making good progress with their injuries and successfully trained today at Bay Oval, The pair will travel with the team to Perth tomorrow.”

The New Zealand coach, Gary Stead, is very confident about the two cricketers’ participation in the first Test against Australia, a Day-Night fixture, which is scheduled to begin from December 12. “I don’t know if I’m really confident, but I’m quietly optimistic they’re tracking where we want them to be,” he said.

Matt Henry replaced Trent Boult in the second Test against England in Hamilton, with Daryl Mitchell taking the place of de Grandhomme. Lockie Ferguson, the tearaway, is also in the mix for selection.
